Freelander IRD Transfer Gearbox Blanking Plate ?

This blanking plate is supplied complete with a comprehensive step by step guide with colour photos detailing the complete installation and conversion to 2WD. The Symptoms The most common symptom of failure in the IRD unit is when reversing, on full lock; a series of loud knocks will be heard and felt through the driveline. This is usually one of the last symptoms, but early indications include tyre wear, unusually poor fuel efficiency and the car feeling “skittish” on wet roads. Additionally, the IRD will whine, especially when decelerating. Conversion Plate The plate is CNC machined from 8mm thick 6082 T6 grade alloy and then clear anodised for corrosion resistance and surface hardening. It is an exact fit and is simply held in place using the original bolts from the output shaft casing, easy to fit with just basic hand tools. Suitable for models from 1995 to early 2006, all petrol models 1.8 / 2.5 - V6 Autos & Manual, all diesels 2.0 L-Series / TD4. Once this 2WD conversion is completed you will also benefit from improved fuel economy, better acceleration and reduced tyre wear!
